Ask Questions in an Interview That Show Your Strengths

It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for – you can soon relax again.

The conversation is winding down, and you’re coming to the end of the interview; you’ve made it through the tough stuff.

Now comes the easy part – or so you thought…
“Have you any questions?”

An inevitable query – but did you put enough research into this question? Probably not. Azon’s advice is to always have something prepared here – and never say “no”.

“Do not forgo a final chance to impress the interviewer,” Azon’s Director Nabil states.

“This question presents a perfect opportunity to kill 2 birds with 1 stone – that is, asking a genuine question while conveying something new about yourself that may not have come up in the interview.” It may not always be a priority after an animated discussion, but a decent query to the hiring party can be the last-minute boost that your application needs.

Nabil continues: “As an interviewer, enquiring about something relevant here will keep you top of mind. We are much more likely to reflect positively on you once you’ve left the room if you’ve engaged with us and shown a genuine interest in the role.”

So how can you prepare? Research the company – in the news, on their website, and via their social media accounts. Consider asking a question about something interesting you’ve discovered, and incorporate the role you’re applying for.

If the business has recently seen rapid growth, you might ask if there is room for progression within your role, as you have other qualifications and professional skills outside the job remit that you think may be beneficial to the company.

“While it might be the parting question, it is equally as important as any other in the interview,” Nabil concludes.

So now you know – get preparing.
