Immediate Supervisor: Production Assistant Manager

About our client:

Azon are thrilled to be partnered with a well-known pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in North Dublin for the recruitment of a Plant Chemist that will report directly to the Production Assistant Manager. The successful candidate will primarily be involved in planning, supervising, and documentation, and will actively participate in day-to-day departmental activities. The company ensures a safe and efficient working environment for all personnel, with strict adherence to correct operating procedures. The Plant Chemist is responsible for maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe work area.

About the role:

  • Ensure adherence to prescribed procedures and cGMPs in the manufacturing process.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for process-related information within the Production department.
  • Validate and approve raw materials from suppliers for use in production.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to maintain accurate and up-to-date manufacturing procedures and validate testing methods.
  • Provide ongoing training to department staff to ensure safe and efficient job performance in accordance with cGMP and Best Engineering Practices.
  • Prepare production staff for the introduction of new processes and equipment.
  • Monitor and improve plant yields through process optimization and coordination with production supervisors.
  • Promote and implement safe work practices to maintain an accident-free workplace.
  • Provide technical input to management decision-making processes.

About the person:

  • BSc in Chemistry OR Chemical Engineering
  • 2-3 year’s experience working in a production department of an API pharmaceutical company.

Working Conditions:

While primarily involved in planning, supervising, and documentation, the Plant Chemist will actively participate in day-to-day departmental activities. The company ensures a safe and efficient working environment for all personnel, with strict adherence to correct operating procedures. The Plant Chemist is responsible for maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe work area.

Performance Evaluation:

The performance of the Plant Chemist will be continually assessed based on criteria including timekeeping, work output and quality, compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality practices, teamwork, positive work attitude, training, self-development, technical competence, and communication skills. Periodic performance reviews will be conducted by the Production Assistant Manager to discuss performance and set objectives.
