The role: Trainee Accountant

The Location: Limerick

Due to the continued expansion of their firm our client currently has a number of open positions for trainee accountants. These trainee positions are a fantastic opportunity to enable applicants to learn about the investment management industry while pursuing their professional accountancy qualification.

Position Overview

Whilst working primarily in an audit and assurance role you will train and study for a professional accounting

qualification (i.e. ACA/ACCA).

Over the course of their training period, trainees will develop all the tools necessary to complete their professional qualification while developing into key members of the Cohen team.

Main Job Functions/Tasks

* Collating, checking and analyses of financial data

* Examining company accounts, records and financial reporting systems

* Gauging levels of financial risk

* Ensuring that controls to safeguard assets are effective

* Identifying if and where processes are not working as they should and advising on changes to be made.

* Preparing reports and commentaries for senior management and boards

* Liaising with managerial staff and presenting findings and recommendations

* Considering whether procedures, policies, legislation and regulations are correctly followed and complied

with

Education, Qualifications and Special Training

* Related Honors degree

* Proficient in MS Office

Skills

* Excellent communication skills

* Ability to plan, prioritise tasks and adhere to strict time deadlines

* Ability to work on own initiative

* Some industry experience in an audit/accounting role would be an advantage

* Academic knowledge of IFRS and GAAP accounting principles would be an advantage
